Local Lake House Rentals

We have curated a list of rental homes that we think will be perfect for our wedding weekend! We highly encourage booking these homes through our local rental agencies (Railey Realty or Taylor Made). If you are renting through Railey Realty, please be sure to call in and ask about the referral discount code available for certain properties. Below you will find a list of all the homes we have hand selected to meet your needs for this very special weekend!

We also have a room block at The Wisp Hotel, please be sure to call when booking your room to ensure you are getting the best rate! The options listed above are the ones that we are highly recommending for guests. These options will be the best in terms of cost and transportation ease for the weekend (or longer!).

Our Favorite Places

  • Swallow Falls State Park

    In the heart of Garrett County, this amazing old growth forest is full of easy walking and hiking trails that will have you chasing waterfalls, don’t worry it is totally worth it! Be sure to bring a bathing suit to enjoy a quick dip in the crisp water!

  • Downtown Oakland

    This cute and quaint small town is full of great shops, local history, and places to eat! A few of our must hit stops would include the farmers market (open on Wednesdays and Saturdays), Flip Side Records, our local book store, and Vagabond Tap room!

  • Wisp Resort

    Wisp has so much to offer, no matter what the season! Enjoy hiking and biking trails, the mountain coaster and white water rafting (if you are feeling adventurous), and an evening summer concert! Tons to do right at your doorstep!

  • Hedi's Cafe

    One of our favorite spots for breakfast or lunch, everything on the menu is delicious! While you there be sure to mention the “Florida Puppy”, better known as Ranger! After eating a great meal, explore the farm and say hello to Ranger’s parents. If you are lucky, there might even be another litter of puppies!

  • MoonShadow Resturant and Bar

    This is one of the best places for a wonderful meal and amazing music! They have local artists playing throughout each weekend, check out their schedule and catch a one of a kind act. While there get a craft cocktail or beer and enjoy all the eclectic good vibes Deep Creek has to offer!

  • Ace's Run and Firewater

    Both of these restaurants are must stops for us! We recommend dinner at Ace’s, Cole loves their Marsh Mountain Burger and Emma almost always goes for the salmon. After dinner head over to Firewater for a cocktail, Cole’s favorite is the Old Fashion and Emma loves the French 75!

Stonecroft Manor- American fare served in a beautiful historic home!

Tomanetti’s- Classic homemade Italian, truly great comfort food!

El Canelo- The best Mexican in Western Maryland, be sure to get a margarita!

Uno’s Bar and Grill- A Deep Creek classic, great views and food. Stick around for a drink and music at the Honi!

Castleman Bakery- Perfect spot for a quick breakfast, get there early and order the donuts!

Little Sandy’s- A Halley family staple, while there be sure to tell Peggy that Ed, Beth, and Emma say hello!

Lakeside Creamery- A staple while at the lake, and always worth the wait! Try the cake batter ice cream, a fan favorite!

Things to Do

Golf at Thousand Acres or Oakland Golf Course- Both of these are great options, be sure to call ahead for a tee time!

Penn Alps Artisan Village- This cute historic village is a great stop for all things shopping and food! While there take in the views over Castleman Bridge.

Deep Creek Lavender Farm- This gorgeous pick your own farm has countless varities of lavender to choose from, before you leave get a lavender lemonade and scoop of lavender ice cream!

Funland Minigolf and Arcade- A summer at the lake is not complete until you make a trip to Funland. If you have leftover tickets, leave them with us…after 28 summers we are still pinning for that top shelf!

Day Trip to Thomas, WV- A day to Thomas is a day well spent, explore the town, enjoy food and music at the Purple Fiddle, and hike over at Blackwater Falls State Park!
